Free lines you can use from your phone

Each number below is a tap-to-call or tap-to-chat link. The calls are free and the counselling is confidential, and you do not need to have hit rock bottom to use them. It is reason enough that the amount you play has started to bother you.

Online
responsiblegambling.org.za explains the counselling and treatment on offer.

The programme's counselling is free after a first assessment, and family members who are worried about someone else's gambling can get support too. Its message is short: Winners know when to stop.

Springbok's own limits and self-exclusion

Springbok's responsible-gaming page lists self-exclusion for a period of the player's choice (minimum one month) and daily or monthly deposit limits, both arranged by contacting Springbok. Verified · 9 October 2026 None of this is a menu switch: it is set up by asking. From a phone, the quickest route is:

  1. Open the support chat

Log in, then tap Chat in the lobby. You can also email help@springbokcasino.co.za from your phone's mail app.

  2. Say exactly what you want

Ask for a daily or monthly deposit limit and give the amount, or ask for self-exclusion and say how long you want it to last.

  3. Keep the confirmation

Ask support to confirm the change by email, and keep that message until the period ends.

Springbok also says its support team can send session reminders; that line comes from one of its articles, not its responsible-gaming page.

Brakes already built into your phone

A browser shortcut makes the casino feel like any other app, which means your phone's own controls work on it too:

  • Android: Digital Wellbeing can put a daily timer on Chrome, and Bedtime mode can grey the screen out at night.
  • iPhone: Screen Time can limit Safari, or a specific website, to a set number of minutes each day.
  • The shortcut itself: long-press the Springbok icon and remove it. Your account is untouched, but starting a session takes more than one tap.
  • Notifications: switch off browser notifications for the casino site so offers do not pull you back in.

Signs it is time to talk to someone

  • You play longer, or deposit more, than you planned before you opened the lobby
  • You top up to win back what you have just lost
  • You reach for your phone to play when you are stressed, bored or cannot sleep
  • Money meant for rent, food, airtime or debts ends up in the cashier
  • You borrow, or keep your playing from people close to you
  • You feel restless or irritable when you try to cut down

One of these on its own is a reason to pause. Two or more is a good reason to phone 0800 006 008 today.

Keeping play inside a budget

  1. Pay the essentials first. Gambling money is whatever is left after bills, groceries, transport and savings, never before.
  2. Pick one amount for the month and treat it as spent the moment you deposit it, the way you would a cinema ticket.
  3. Never deposit with credit, a loan or money you have borrowed.
  4. Set a time limit as well as a money limit; a phone makes it easy for ten minutes to become two hours.
  5. Stop when you are upset, tired or have been drinking, and take regular days off.

If keeping to a plan like this feels hard, that is useful information, not a failure. The lines at the top of this page are there for exactly that conversation.
