Make the Springbok Casino home screen shortcut in Chrome

These steps use a feature Chrome has had for years. Nothing is downloaded and no phone setting changes, so you can follow them on any Android phone or tablet with Chrome on it.

   Open Chrome itself

   Start in the Chrome app, not the viewer inside WhatsApp, Facebook or your email. Those built-in viewers usually have no home-screen option; look for Open in Chrome in their menu.

   Go to Springbok's address

   Tap the gold button on this page, or type www.springbokcasino.co.za into the address bar yourself. Read the address once before you sign in: it should be exactly that, with no extra words or swapped letters.

   Log in or look around

   Sign in with your usual username and password, or tap Practice Mode on the login form to browse with fun money. Either way the lobby loads inside the tab.

   Open the three-dot menu

   Tap ⋮ at the top right and choose Add to Home screen. Some Chrome versions call the item Install app, or ask you to pick Create shortcut; every one of these is Chrome's own feature, with no unknown-sources switch involved.

   Name it and add it

   Keep the name short, such as Springbok, and tap Add. If Chrome asks where it should go, drag the icon into place or tap Add automatically.

   Open the casino from the icon

   From now on, tap the icon instead of searching. It opens Springbok's site in Chrome, so it is always the current version and never asks for an update.

Samsung Internet and other Android browsers

Plenty of Galaxy phones open links in Samsung Internet by default. It has the same feature under another name: tap the menu button (three lines) at the bottom, then Add page to, then Home screen. Firefox for Android has a similar option in its three-dot menu.

Springbok says its casino runs in any modern browser, so the brand matters less than keeping it current. Open the Play Store, search for your browser and tap Update if the button is showing.

Already have an old Springbok app installed?

If you installed a Springbok app years ago, from Springbok's old instructions or from anywhere else, swap it for the shortcut. Your account is held by Springbok, not by the app, so nothing is lost when the app goes.

1. Long-press the old icon and choose Uninstall, or find it in Settings under Apps.
2. In Settings, search for Install unknown apps and switch the permission off for any browser or file manager you used to install it.
3. If you ever typed your password into an app you no longer trust, reset it with Forgot Password or Username? under Springbok's Log In button. Springbok emails the next step to the address on the account, so check your spam folder too.
